My name is Catriona McDougall and I was a Peace Corps Volunteer on the coast of Colombia. I am currently living in Bogotá and have been living here for a few months. Throughout my service many questions and observations have come up about every aspect of life. Customs, culture, language, and food have been different and sometimes from a foreigner’s point of view very odd. I have not only had the challenge of learning about Colombia and all it means to live in Colombia. Through my experience as a volunteer and as it continues as an “expat,” I have had to explain a lot about American culture, language, customs, and food. This blog is to share some of the similarities, differences, and experiences I have had as well as Colombian accounts on each theme.
